How much is your company worth?
There may be many reasons that make it necessary to determine the value
of a company. Every day companies are bought and sold or stakes are acquired,
business partners leave, business co-operations are established and regulations
governing succession are planned.
It is relatively easy to determine the actual value of new equipment. However,
it takes much more to value old equipment, which is no longer state-of-the-art,
or to assess the value of property or a building.
However, an enterprise consists of more than just buildings and machines;
there are know-how, skilled staff, distribution markets, the customer base,
the relation to the suppliers and any rights which must be taken into account
to the same extent as the company's past and future profit situation.
Apart from these problems, questions regarding the best suited method arise,
such as the traditional gross rental method, discounted cash flow method
or the "new" appraisal of business methods, which are linked to the keywords
"earnings per share", "economic value added", and "cash flow return on investment".
